You are required to investigate a suitable location, urban and or rural, local or further afielf and escape there. However, as well as suitably documenting and exploring this resource visually and conceptually, you are to present this as an artist’s book accompanied by a suitable body of text.
I chose to photograph Glasgow, but in such a way that it is not easily recognisable and could be any city. I personally escape to a city where there is always people to watch and people watching you. I prefer the busy nature of a city to the peacefulness of the countryside or beach.
I chose the novel 1984 by George Orwell as the text is appropiate to the concept of people being watched. The metal covers are to emphasise that it is a built up area, manmade and not a natural environment.
